Born and raised in the south of France, Léo Baumont began his formal education at an early age, first with drums and later vibraphone and trombone. As a teenager, he formed his first bands with his classmates, rehearsing in a basement after school. Around the same time he was introduced to jazz and started sitting in on the local jam sessions.
After graduating from high school he eventually moved to the Netherlands to attend the conservatory of Amsterdam, where he studied drums, composition and arranging.

Drawing on rich international experience, and shaped by mentorship from musicians such as Martijn Vink, Franck Agulhon and Jeff Ballard, he brings a deeply organic approach to the drums and a singular compositional voice, blending contemporary harmonies together with intricate rhythmic structures and evocative melodies.
